The projectDuring the "Battle of the Bulge 1944-1945", the field hospital of the 326th Airborne Medical Company, 101st Airborne, was stationed at "Barrière Hinck" in Sainte-Ode. Because of some tragic events during the Battle of the Bulge at the location of this field hospital a large number of Americans were killed. We're talking about a little piece of "forgotten" history which in our opinion, the people of Militaria Bastogne, should not be forgotten. We have taken the initiative to build a monument for the victims of the events at Barrière Hinck during the Battle of the Bulge. They died for our freedom. So this part of WW2 history must be saved for future generations. We have already done alot of work that is necessary to build this new monument. The community has donated the land, building permits are ready. That is why we would like to start building as soon as possible. To build this monument we need one more thing: funds. A number of veterans from Easy Company, 506th P.I.R. 101st Airborne Division (Band of Brothers) have offered their help to realize this project. Out of respect for those who were killed at Barrière Hinck during WW2. Because of the historical significance of this monument they have signed a number of items in order to sell them and raise the funds needed for the building process. We would also like to thank the Aces High Aviation Gallery for providing us with a number of pencil sketches by artist Richard Taylor. The dedication of the monument is scheduled for the commemorative weekend of December 2009, during the 65th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge.
